Earth Day Kayak Cleanup 2023

The High 5 Initiative will be kicking off our cleanup season with the Earth Day Kayak Cleanup for our 3rd year in a row!!!

Again we have registered this cleanup with Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay Project Clean Stream and partnered with Bay Venture Outfitters to give volunteers FREE access to kayaks. We will be cleaning out the area of marsh across from North East Community Park, but we will be meeting at and launching from Bay Venture Outfitters. There we will hand out supplies, such as gloves, bags and pickers; as well as snacks and water, though we do encourage you to bring your own refillable water bottle.

If you do have your own kayak or canoe, we encourage you to bring your own if possible to allow other volunteers use of the limited available for the day. If you need to borrow a kayak, the actual kayak reservations are done through @bay_venture_outfitters .

These spots do go fast, so we suggest registering at the link below asap.

Here is the link for booking a kayak if one is needed:

Partial financial assistance has been provided through the Cecil County VLT Local Community Grant Program, sponsored by the Cecil County Executive. Jerry Skrivanek V.F.W. Post 8185 in Port Deposit, MD donated to help cover the cost of supplies. The High 5 Initiative also received a partial grant from MD’s DHCD and applied for the Keep Maryland Beautiful Grant again.
