Sugarberry Design Studio is a one-woman studio that combines the timeless craft of woodworking with the more modern art of graphic design to produce handcrafted furniture, as well as small-batch home decor, art, and stationery. Owner Megan Rubinstein offers a variety of ready-made items, such as serving trays and wall decorations, but also has a particular love for designing and building custom, tailor-made items.
Started in 2016, Megan is in the process of transitioning her side business into a full-time venture. She works out of her home, located in Ridgely Forest. She states that owning a business presents a lot of challenges. “As a solopreneur, all jobs fall to me – design, development, marketing, videography, photography, and management – and I want to be the best I can be at all of them.”
Megan tells us that originally she went to college to study graphic design and became a web designer. After marriage, two kids, and a divorce, she went back to school and now has marketing and business degrees.
