Please welcome York Building Products and Sister Organization Principio Furnace Foundation
York Building Products (YBP) is a construction materials supply company who has three Sand and Gravel plants and one Crushed Granite plant in Cecil County. YBP is also partners in a Hot Mix Asphalt Plant located on the quarry property and owns Concrete Masonry Plants in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
With their main location at 1079 Belvidere Road, Port Deposit, YBP has been in business for 85 years, operating in Cecil County for almost 60 years! Other plants are located at 4080 Pulaski Highway, Perryville, and 340 Perrylawn Drive, Port Deposit. Not only do they have 100 employees in Cecil County, but they are looking to hire five welders/maintenance technicians and operators.
The most challenging aspect of this business is that it is outdoors, so weather makes production of materials challenging. Also, YBP is dependent on equipment and machinery, so maintenance is imperative. Jim Gawthrope states that “it is exciting to see our whole team working together to crush and wash tons and tons of product every day. We are proud to say that York Building Products is one of the 60th largest sand and gravel producers in the United States.”
Principio Furnace Foundation is a sister organization of York Building Products. The Mansion that is known to and loved by many is currently under renovation. Sarah Colenda of Principio is excited to share the finished product with all of us. Maybe we’ll be seeing a North East Chamber mixer there in the future!
